Do you want to be less anxious? Have you experienced a loss or are going through a transition that has prompted unresolved feelings from the past? Are you trying to please everyone, sometimes at the expense of your own well-being? Maybe you’ve been struggling with relationships or feel like you aren’t worthy of a partner who respects your needs, or you grew up in a household affected by addiction, or maybe you’re in recovery yourself.
If any of this resonates with you, you’re in the right place. I can provide you with tools and insight to help you: build the life you want, relate better to others, and cope with whatever curve balls are thrown your way.
Let’s be honest. Life can be hectic, and finding time to take care of your emotional and mental health may not always take top priority. Just by visiting this site, you’ve already shown courage by thinking about professional help to support you in working through (not around) your problems.
Do you have an idea of where you need help? Are things just not working for you, and you’re not sure why? Therapy can provide hope by helping you gain a better understanding of what’s happening, by teaching you ways to overcome or manage symptoms, and by exploring the root causes.
At NorthStar Counselling Services, I use compassionate, creative and appropriate therapeutic models to support children, youth and adults in reaching their goals so they can thrive at home, school or work.
Hi, I’m Allyson. I’m a registered psychotherapist with an integrative, wholistic approach to healing that takes into consideration your mind, body and spirit. I’ve supported hundreds of people in families, schools, hospitals, prisons, community agencies and faith-based organizations.
My passion is connecting with people, whether they’re at the beginning of their life journey, near the end, or somewhere in between. I’m insightful, creative, and humorous, and I bring these attributes to my practice.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches with my clients, including:
- internal family systems
- cognitive behavioural therapy
- expressive arts
- family systems
As a therapist, I believe it’s my responsibility to create a safe, supportive environment where you can take risks, while both joy and suffering are explored. This is your journey… and you don’t have to walk it alone. If this appeals to you, let’s talk.
